Authorities have detained 31-year-old Shauna Stoner of Queens, charging her with criminal mischief and arson in connection with the incident.
No Apparent Motive
Store associates indicated that Stoner had no known affiliations with the establishment. A source disclosed to Page Six, “She’s completely unrelated to us—a total stranger.”
A video captured by celebrity photographers and shared by TMZ shows Stoner protesting as police escort her away, claiming, “It was just to cut up his clothes that he stole. My designs!”
Stoner stormed into October’s Very Own—Drake’s flagship clothing store that opened in 2011—at approximately 4:35 PM. She sported a denim jacket and leather pants and carried a bag branded with the Telfar logo. She began her spree by spraying what seemed to be spray paint on high-end items.
Her rampage escalated as she flipped clothing racks and ripped garments from their hangers. She then pulled a hammer from her bag and started smashing the store’s windows. Additionally, she produced what looked to be a knife from her bag.
It appears that Stoner made no attempt to steal any merchandise.
After leaving the store, she headed north on the Bowery. Though store employees maintained a safe distance, they promptly notified the police. Stoner was apprehended just a block away on Great Jones Street by 4:19 PM.
By the time of her arrest, she had discarded her jacket and was only wearing a black bra. The reason for including arson in the charges remains unclear from the police report.
Store Details and Merchandise
OVO, representing October’s Very Own, has several locations including eight in Drake’s home country of Canada, along with outposts in Los Angeles and London.
The store primarily features athletic-inspired streetwear, with hoodies retailing for around $150 and T-shirts priced at about $60.
A representative for Drake chose not to comment on the incident.
