Una Healey – Staring at the Moon

Una Healy might be familiar to many of you as having a hugely successful singing career as one of “The Saturdays”, however on Wednesday evening I saw another side to her talent when she was the support act for Ward Thomas. The half hour set was incredibly impressive and it looks to me that the lady from Thurles, Ireland will be a very welcome addition to the country music scene. The move to country music might seem surprising at first, but Una Healy is the niece of country singer Declan Nerney, so country is definitely in her blood – and you can tell!

“Staring At The Moon” was one of my particular highlights of the set, so I was delighted when I googled it and saw there was a YouTube clip of her singing it on “The Voice” in Ireland. The song was written about her young daughter and how when she is away from home, she’ll stare at the moon in the same way her daughter likes to and feel she is with her.

Una Healy has signed a deal with Decca Records and you’ll be able to pre-order her debut solo album next week.
