Ashley McBryde Announces UK Tour Dates for September/October
It’s a tremendous week for country fans in the UK with the Country 2 Country festival taking place this weekend. And the week just got a little better with the announcement of an Ashley McBryde tour in the autumn! The dates are as follows:
Friday 27 September LONDON Shepherd’s Bush Empire
Sunday 29 September MANCHESTER Academy 2
Monday 30 September GLASGOW Queen Margaret Union
Tuesday 1 October DUBLIN Academy
Tickets for the tour will go on sale on Friday – http://www.axs.com/uk/series/
Last year Ashley McBryde headed to the C2C festival and was, in many people’s eyes, the breakout artist of the weekend, wowing the crowds across the numerous sets she played. Our chief reviewer Lesley Hastings ended a review of Ashley’s NY-LON set as follows: “Passionate lyrics indeed, and passionately performed, with Ashley getting totally lost in the performance and seeming almost shocked when she finished and came back to reality. An eruption of applause and the Arkansas native left us all knowing we’d been truly privileged to witness this performance.”
This year she is back again, playing the Arena in London on the Sunday night, in Glasgow on Friday evening and in Dublin on Saturday night.
Last year Lesley got to interview Ashley at C2C and asked her about the road she has travelled as an artist.
I’ve heard you joke about being an eleven year overnight success story..has all that hard work that you’ve put in to get to be where you are today made you a better artist?
“Absolutely! I didn’t do it because i thought “eleven years from now I’m going to have a record deal”, i was going to do it anyway because I loved doing it. I equate it to a college degree, after I’ve been out here doing it this long you can’t tell me I didn’t earn it! There’s not a lot of things i haven’t seen, I’ve had things thrown at me, dealt with hecklers…my sound developed as i got older, i went from being more classic country and bluegrass based and then lived in Memphis for so long that the blues and rock and roll, man they just latched onto me and I loved it! As soon as I accepted that into my bones what was going to end up being my sound showed itself.
Two Ashley McBryde visits in one year for UK country fans – we’re being truly spoilt!
