EXCLUSIVE: Emma Stevens Talks New EP ‘Atoms’, New Single, and Forthcoming UK Tour

On May 10th, British Country singer/songwriter Emma Stevens will release her eagerly anticipated new EP ‘Atoms‘. The record is being led by new single ‘Because It’s You’ and will be supported by the forthcoming UK tour which kicks off in Bath on May 9th and runs through until May 22nd.

Here we chat exclusively to Emma Stevens about the new record, latest single, upcoming tour, and Pledge Music:

Your new EP Atoms will be released May 10th, how excited are you to be releasing this project?

Very!! It’s always exciting when I have new music to share with people

What was the writing process like for the record?

It was interesting as the songs are all co-writes with different people. Each song went through a different process.

Is there one song in particular you’re most excited for fans to hear from Atoms?

ATOMS!! It’s a song which is very special to me, and to have co-written it with such a hugely important person in my life Charlie Midnight was a great honour.

The project was hit by the major Pledge Music crash, how did this affect the CD’s process?

It was a nightmare. I really feel for all my fans who have supported me as the money just went straight to Pledge. I managed to get the EP made in the end, but it wasn’t easy!

Do you have a message for all the Pledgers who supported the new record before it’s official release?

You guys are the best, I couldn’t do this without your continued support.

The EP is being led by new single ‘Because It’s You’, what made you choose this track as the first taste of the Atoms record?

It’s a really instant, summery, happy song and I felt it was the right song to bring people since my last release.

The song also features Kevin Jeremiah, how did that collab come about?

I met Kevin at Carfest a couple of years ago after he played a set with his band The Feeling. We met up a few times with his gorgeous wife Julia and all got on so well! I suggested writing together and the rest is history!

What was the main inspiration behind the song?

Kevin wrote the song with his brother years ago and I gave it a freshen up, the song is called “Because it’s You’ and the message is when you find someone you truly love, you’ll do whatever you can to make them happy.

You will be supporting your new music via a UK tour this May, what can fans expect from the shows?

My two Sam’s – Sam Rommer and Sam Whiting are joining me on the tour. Guitar and Bass, and me on acoustic and uke. I can’t wait. 

Is there any city you’re particularly excited about visiting while on tour?

I love playing every city. I’m looking forward to playing in Bath as I’ve never done a show there. I of course can’t wait to go back to Scotland either. But every city always offers something different and unique. It’s all about the people!
