Kerri Watt is an artist who always impresses us here at Belles and Gals. 2020 started off in great style for her including performances at Celtic Connections in her hometown of Glasgow as well as at London’s AMAUK AmericanaFest Showcase, and February saw the release of her fantastic single ” Kissing Fools” which you can read more about here in our interview with the talented singer/songwriter https://www.bellesandgals.com/2020/02/20/interview-kerri-watt-talks-new-single-kissing-fools/
While we are eagerly awaiting her debut album ” Chasing Aeroplanes” recorded last year in Austin ,Texas and due for release in 2021, today sees the release a gorgeous acoustic version of her 2019 single ” Cut Me Loose”. This was her first single after signing to Cooking Vinyl, and this stripped back re-working features the soulful guest vocals of Londoner Samuel Jack, perfect for this collaboration I think! The two artists first met in 2017, and Samuel explains ” we’ve got really similar influences which makes working together really easy. I love her voice and style, and her work ethic is brilliant”.
Of the track itself, Kerri says ” it is about breaking free from someone who’s had a hold on you, leaving all the drama behind and never looking back. The mood is bold, empowering, a little dark and sexy with a dramatic energy”.
