Tera Lynne Fister Joins Forces With Fellow Female Artists On Festive Country Classic
It’s been a couple of months since we first featured exciting break-out country artist Tera Lynne Fister, whose talent and strong work ethos is finally getting the St Louis native the attention she deserves.
Living in Nashville for the past eight years, her most recent release, the follow up to September’s thought provoking single about the current state of the world ” I Understand ( I Will Never Understand”), is a festive offering which sees her teaming up with fellow Nashville artists Kennedy Fitzsimmons and Cassandra Sotos. With all three sharing a love for the classic country sound, they chose to re-interpret the holiday song ” If We Make It Through December” which was written and recorded by the legendary Merle Haggard back in 1973 and has become one of the trademark songs of his career. While it may be considered a sombre, atypical Christmas song it is definitely one which is very fitting for the unprecedented year we have all had. As Tera explains, “We were trying to figure out what song to choose for this holiday release, and we figured this song would be perfect because it describes how most of us are feeling right now or what people are going through whether it be unemployment, loneliness or economic hardship,” says Tera. “Even though the song was originally released over 40 years ago, it still rings true for us today.”
Giving a bit more insight into this stunning collaboration, Tera says “I met these fellow artists Kennedy and Cassandra after moving to Nashville, and we’ve been friends since then. So, when we decided to record this song, we were all so excited. We had so much fun in the studio and I can’t wait for all of our fans to hear this one.”
When it comes to this new version, I really love how the three ladies share lead vocals with each of their voices bringing a slightly different dimension, but I particularly enjoy their beautiful harmonies. Another stand out feature for me is Cassandra’s fiddle playing which kicks in on the second verse, although the instrumentation throughout is just achingly gorgeous…..for full credits see below.
