Chelsea Berman’s ‘Going There’ Single and Video – Out Now
Australia, much like the UK, has a burgeoning country music scene, producing a series of homegrown artists who are making an impact in the genre. One such Australian is Chelsea Berman, who released her debut EP ‘Better Than Ever‘ back in 2018. Ever since then she’s been making waves, with highlights including becoming a Toyota Star Maker Finalist at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and her fan favourite single ‘Kiss Me Like You Miss Me‘ clocking up over 100,000 streams, while ‘Break Up With a Friend‘, her 2022 single amassing double that amount.
2023 has started with a bang for Chelsea with the release of ‘Going There‘, a perfect slice of pop country that underlines the fantastic talent the New South Wales singer songwriter possesses.
We caught up with Chelsea this week to discuss ‘Going There‘!
Hi Chelsea, can you give us an insight into how ‘Going There’ came to life as a song?
I wrote ‘Going There’ with talented Canadian writers Lydia Sutherland and Aaron Pollock over zoom last year. I came to the writing session explaining that I was going through exactly what the song is about – going back to someone who I knew was a bad decision and would hurt me, but I just couldn’t stop the connection. I played it at a few gigs after this and got a great reaction, so decided to release it as my next single. I worked with producer Rhys Zacher on the track and incorporated a lot of my pop influences to create a fresh pop/country sound.
The video for the song was recently released – the video has such a good vibe to it and captures the song brilliantly. Guess it was a lot of fun to film?
So glad you love the video! It was a lot of fun to film, I got to film it with some of my great friends and director Jake Davey who is also a friend of mine. We had the perfect venue to film at and it was good vibes all around. If you’d like me to spill some tea though, there are a few people in the video that I really wish weren’t in it, but hey – you live and you learn!
It’s rare for us to feature an Aussie country artist. Can you tell us a little about the country scene in Australia?
Well thank you for featuring an Aussie country artist, it means a lot! The country scene in Australia is relatively small, but definitely growing. Every time I go to a country music festival, the energy is just amazing and I think that’s a big part of why I love it so much. Everyone is so supportive and just there to have a good time and listen to great music.
