After a two-year hiatus following its third season, “The Morning Show” is set to return for its fourth season.
The narrative resumes two years after the events surrounding Alex Levy (played by Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (played by Reese Witherspoon), coinciding with the conclusion of the UBA-NBN merger.
According to the official description from Apple TV+, the newsroom faces new challenges including hidden agendas, the pursuit of truth in a divided America, and the impact of technology like deepfakes and corporate secrecy. The key question posed is, in such turbulent times, who do you trust and what is the reality?
Previous seasons have incorporated real-life events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the #MeToo movement, and the January 6 insurrection. However, Mimi Leder, the director and executive producer, confirmed with The Hollywood Reporter that Season 4 will steer clear of the 2024 Presidential election.
“We steered clear of the election – this season concludes right before the election takes place,” she explained. “Our focus isn’t on elections; it’s on broader themes like artificial intelligence, deepfakes, environmental crises, and the state of democracy.”
