Top Baby Name Trends for Boys and Girls in 2027 Revealed!

What are the trendiest names for 2027? The latest edition of the Official Guide to Names, releasing this Thursday, September 10, unveils the most popular baby names for the year. Highly anticipated by expectant and new parents, it reveals the top trending names for both girls and boys. For girls, Louise, Jade, Ambre, Alma, and Adèle are shining in the top 5, while for boys, Gabriel leads, followed by Noa, Léo, Raphaël, and Louis.

But what are the major naming trends? According to Stéphanie Rapoport, whom we interviewed, the trend for short names (like Léo, Noé, Lou, or Mia) continues. “We’re seeing names ranging from four to six letters or just one syllable (like Louise, Ambre, or Alba in the top 3),” confirms the name expert. Another significant trend this year is “the resurgence of vintage names which have been popular in recent years, but with a shift that’s becoming more pronounced: Louise might have peaked and could be giving up her top spot while Adèle makes her first appearance in the top 5“. Unique names like Inaya, Alba, Elio, and those inspired by nature such as Iris or Rose are also prominent this year.

However, another trend might push certain names into the spotlight, according to the naming expert. “In 2027, names from mythology might make a breakthrough in boys’ names. Elio has made it into the top 20, and the romantic and tragic Léandre from Greek mythology is currently at 40th place, while Achille is climbing steadily and Ulysses has rebounded after a slow start in the early 2010s,” Rapoport details.

“Multicultural and vintage names remain very popular for boys. What strikes me more this year, however, is the emergence of vowel juxtapositions: names like Gabriel, Noah, Noé, Léo, Elio, and Andrea feature them, giving these names a soft sound that appeals to parents” analyzes Stéphanie Rapoport.
