The rock and roll matriarch would have been thrilled.

Doja Cat channeled Tina Turner during her “Gorgeous” performance at Vogue World: Hollywood this past Sunday in Los Angeles. She dazzled the audience in a chainmail dress with pronounced shoulders and a voluminous platinum blond wig, reminiscent of Turner’s ensemble from the 1985 movie “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.”

The dress was a creation by Michael Schmidt, a costume designer who had previously worked with Turner, designing many memorable outfits. Doja’s attire shimmered with multiple layers of silver rings, which were also featured on her matching Christian Louboutin high heels.

In the role of the formidable Aunt Entity in George Miller’s dystopian film, Turner wore a heavy 70-pound costume by Norma Moriceau. This iconic outfit included elements like coat hangers, dog muzzles, and chicken wire, combined with metal mesh.

Turner, who passed away in 2024 at the age of 83, contributed two songs to the movie’s soundtrack: “We Don’t Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)” and “One of the Living,” with the latter earning her a Grammy Award.

The latest Vogue World event, following editions in Paris and New York, celebrated the intersection of cinema and couture, highlighting some of the most iconic fashion moments in film history.

Doja Cat was among several stars who lit up the runway. Gracie Abrams also took the stage to perform, and Nicole Kidman opened the show in a Chanel dress inspired by Rita Hayworth’s famous outfit from “Gilda.” Other celebrities like Julia Garner, Angela Bassett, and Hunter Schafer appeared in outfits that paid homage to classic movie styles.

The event took place at the Paramount Pictures Studios Lot, where Vogue World: Hollywood showcased designs from some of Hollywood’s leading costume designers, including Colleen Atwood (“Edward Scissorhands”), Ruth E. Carter (“Black Panther”), Milena Canonero (“Marie Antoinette”), and Arianne Phillips (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”).

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Entertainment Community Fund, specifically aiding costume professionals affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles.
