Tonight’s Vogue World: Hollywood event is taking place under the bright lights of Tinseltown, where celebrities have gathered to celebrate.

Nicole Kidman, an Academy Award-winning actress, made a stunning appearance to start the evening. She was the epitome of glamour in her bouncy, voluminous curls and vivid red lipstick, dressed in a black, elegantly draped satin bustier dress by Chanel, designed by the house’s new artistic director, Matthieu Blazy. The dress featured black satin camellias, adding a distinct touch to the ensemble.

Kidman’s look was a nod to Rita Hayworth, one of the classic red-haired icons of Old Hollywood. It was reminiscent of Hayworth’s famous black satin dress and opera gloves from the 1946 film “Gilda,” where she famously performed a sultry striptease to the tune of “Put the Blame on Mame.”

Blazy added his unique flair to the outfit with Chanel’s iconic camellia flowers, and it was paired with an exquisite Chanel Fine Jewelry Diamant Evanescent necklace, sparkling with numerous brilliant-cut diamonds.

The festivities were initiated by Kidman with a pre-recorded performance echoing Hayworth’s act, filmed in black and white under classic studio lighting. She was assisted by tuxedo-wearing dancers who helped her into the snug costume before she made her way onto the runway, which had been transformed from the Paramount lot. Australian director Baz Luhrmann, a regular collaborator, “directed” her appearance.

The iconic costume, originally crafted by Columbia Pictures’ Jean Louis for Hayworth, marked one of the many memorable designs from their collaboration spanning nine films. It was last auctioned in 2009, still bearing labels identifying it as Columbia Pictures property and with Hayworth’s name stitched inside.

The “Put the Blame on Mame” scene has inspired numerous on-screen recreations, from the enchanting animated character Jessica Rabbit in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” (1988) to the 2012 James Bond movie “Skyfall.”

The event served as a glamorous start for Kidman, who recently announced her separation from her husband of 19 years, Keith Urban. As she steps back into her role as a Chanel ambassador, a position she last held in 2005, the evening also paid homage to legendary and current Hollywood costume designers.

Following successful events in New York and Paris, Vogue World in Los Angeles is highlighting the interplay between cinema and style, celebrating iconic film characters. Kendall Jenner captured attention by opening the runway show in the sparkling corset and top hat from Kidman’s “Moulin Rouge!”

The stylish attendees enjoyed a showcase of famous movie costumes and exceptional fashion collections, assembled under the guidance of Vogue’s Anna Wintour and her team. The evening also featured performances by artists such as Doja Cat and Gracie Abrams.

The event, hosted at the Paramount Pictures Studios Lot, highlighted the creativity of renowned costume designers like Ruth E. Carter (“Black Panther”), Catherine Martin (“Moulin Rouge!”), Arianne Phillips (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”), Sandy Powell (“Shakespeare in Love”), and others.

The proceeds from the evening are earmarked for the Entertainment Community Fund, focusing on aiding costume professionals who were affected by the LA wildfires earlier this year.
