Families with three or more children: Monthly financial support is provided by the Family Allowance Fund (Caf) for households with modest incomes.
Raising a large family means facing higher daily expenses. To assist households with at least three children, the Family Allowance Fund (Caf) offers a family supplement. This monthly financial aid is available based on income conditions and helps alleviate the budgetary burden of large families.
Who Can Receive the Family Supplement?
The family supplement is a specific benefit from the Caf. It is granted based on certain criteria. If you have three or more children under the age of 21, and your youngest child is at least three years old, you are eligible for this supplement in addition to the family allowances paid from the second child onwards. However, the family supplement is subject to income conditions.
What is the Amount of the Family Supplement in 2026?
The amount of the family supplement varies depending on the household’s income and the number of dependent children. From April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, the base aid is set at 196.60 euros per month, regardless of whether you live alone or with a partner. This amount can increase in certain situations, up to a maximum of 294.91 euros. Note that the family supplement cannot be combined with the basic allowance.
What are the Income Limits for the Family Supplement in 2026?
The family supplement is calculated for each family based on the net category income of the year 2024 for 2026. It’s important to know that if your income slightly exceeds the threshold, you may be eligible for a differential allowance. Check with your local Caf office. Here are the income limits for 2026 based on different situations:
| Dependent Children | Single Parent or Couple with Two Incomes | Couple with One Income |
| 3 children | 27,367 € | 22,372 € |
| 4 children | 31,096 € | 26,101 € |
| For each additional child | + 3,729 € | + 3,729 € |
How Long Can You Receive the Family Supplement?
The family supplement is available to large families with children between the ages of 3 and 21. The payments stop once “you have fewer than three children under 21 years still dependent on you, or if you have a new child under the age of 3”, according to the Public Service website.
What are the Steps to Receive the Family Supplement?
No specific actions are required to take advantage of it. Indeed, if you are eligible, the tax authorities automatically send your household information to the Caf if you meet the eligibility requirements.
