For many years, Isabelle Huppert has remained devoted to a fragrance that is both powerful and legendary.

Actress, producer, Balenciaga muse, and occasional model—Isabelle Huppert truly wears many hats. A genuine beauty icon, she inspires us every day. Naturally, for a legendary actress, only a mythical fragrance would do. For years, the star has been loyal to a potent and mesmerizing scent that is also a cornerstone of French perfumery. Forget about sweet juices or fleeting scents that vanish at the snap of your fingers: the star of La Pianiste swears by this fiery bouquet of white flowers. Created just after the war by a visionary and slightly rebellious woman, this nectar has become the ultimate symbol of Parisian daring.

Isabelle Huppert’s relationship with this prestigious brand spans decades. In various interviews, she has expressed her fondness for a particular fragrance. For example, in a 2018 conversation with British media outlet The Guardian, when asked about her favorite scent, she unhesitatingly responded: “Fracas by Robert Piguet.” Before that, Fracas was the perfume she most often mentioned in beauty magazine features. In 2012, to celebrate her enduring connection with the brand, the house launched an ultra-limited edition of the bottle (only 400 available worldwide) featuring Isabelle Huppert as the face, with the actress’s name engraved on the label. She herself describes the fragrance as a mix of paradoxes, finding it both natural and sophisticated, deadly and nurturing.

Indeed, Fracas has a rather unique story. It was created in 1948 by Germaine Cellier, one of the first renowned female perfumers and certainly one of the most modern of her time. She is also the creator of several other iconic scents, including Vent Vert by Balmain. When crafting the fragrance for Robert Piguet, she blended Indian tuberose absolute, Tunisian orange blossom absolute, French jasmine, and Italian iris root butter, among other ingredients. Today, Fracas is still considered the first major tuberose perfume and one of the most famous floral fragrances ever. Its scent remains strikingly modern.

Thus, it’s an open secret that Isabelle Huppert fully embraces, making Fracas one of the few fashion accessories she mentions as frequently as her favorite designers.
