This bizarre French customer habit is driving shop owners crazy
The amusement park in western Paris is undergoing a makeover with two new rides and a newly renovated paddling pool for kids.
Spanning 18 hectares with its botanical garden, a zoo that houses 450 animals and birds, 42 attractions for all ages, and various dining spots, the Jardin d’Acclimatation continues to attract more families. Located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris and known as France’s oldest amusement park, this park, established in 1860, has been delighting both young and old for generations. This year, the Jardin d’Acclimatation is refreshing its offerings with exciting new features:
New Pirate-Themed Attractions
Starting April 30, the park will introduce two brand new attractions. The first, The Pirate Fort, is a family coaster designed for all ages: its tight turns, sudden accelerations, and surprise effects immerse visitors in a thrilling mission to conquer an impregnable fort. The second, The Corsair Ship, caters to thrill-seekers. Younger guests haven’t been forgotten, as the Great Paddling Pool, after months of renovation, will reopen in early June 2026 under the name Little Sailors’ Splash Pool. It will feature nearly 500 water jets for fun and cooling off freely, all set in an exotic decor complete with palm trees and shaded loungers where parents can relax. To round out the adventure, visitors can dine at Redbeard’s Tavern, find treasures at the Treasure Chest shop, and even capture their visit in a photo booth that turns them into real pirates. It’s a must-visit for a family day out in Paris as the weather warms up!
Attractions at the Jardin d’Acclimatation
The Enchanted River, Flying Chairs, Ferris Wheel, Little Train, Distorting Mirrors, Large Aviary, roller coasters, Guignol Theater, Educational Farm, and Carousels spread over 18 hectares of meadows continue to make the Jardin d’Acclimatation a popular destination that keeps evolving. There’s something for every age and taste. This year, the park notably diversifies with a new carousel designed by Louis Vuitton, featuring fantastical animal decorations. Moreover, a new attraction launched on March 22 will open to the public on April 12, 2025.
The Dragon Challenge: The New Roller Coaster at the Jardin d’Acclimatation
The Dragon Challenge is the fourth roller coaster at the Jardin d’Acclimatation following The Steam Machine, The Mechanical Mice, and The Speed Rockets. Thrill-seekers take note! This new ride propels visitors at high speeds through a stunning Asian-themed backdrop. After passing through a quaint Chinese fishing village, board a dragon that takes off at 50 km/h at a height of 12 meters. The coaster then catapults out of the station before making tight turns close to the river and ground. It’s a must-try family attraction, representing an investment of 12 million euros.
What Animals Can Be Found at the Jardin d’Acclimatation Zoo?
In the farm of the Jardin d’Acclimatation, children can discover rabbits, guinea pigs, Rove goats, Ouessant sheep, donkeys, a chicken coop, and a beehive, learning all the secrets of beekeeping. They can even feed the farm animals. For bird enthusiasts, five aviaries organized by different biogeographical zones transport visitors around the world, showcasing over 40 species. Lastly, a vegetable garden allows children to learn about the benefits of vegetables and how plants grow. These nature-filled activities are ideal for an unforgettable and educational family outing.
