Over the last couple of years, Taylor Swift has been consistently seen sporting a variety of pleated tartan miniskirts from the renowned Italian designer, making appearances across the globe from dinner dates to casual strolls.
This past Tuesday evening, the 35-year-old pop icon, recently engaged, was spotted at The Eighty Six in New York City’s West Village. She was dressed in a camel-and-black plaid skirt ($2,350) adorned with golden buttons and front patch pockets, which she paired with a sleek black turtleneck and Jennifer Chamandi knee-high boots ($1,550).
This style combination has become a staple for her, especially during the fall season, appearing so frequently it could be considered the foundation of her autumnal attire.
While Swift does sport a range of plaid miniskirts from more accessible brands like Rails and Ramy Brook, it’s the pricier Miu Miu versions that seem to be her preferred choice.
At the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards held in March, she appeared via video to accept the Tour of the Century award, wearing the same camel-colored mini paired with a black long-sleeve top and a Cartier watch. Her look, complete with a snake necklace, sparked rumors about a potential “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” though she had different projects underway, notably her twelfth studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
In December of the previous year, Swift made a heartfelt visit to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, donning a green plaid version of the skirt ($2,350) matched with a button-up shirt. The outfit was so well received by a teen patient named Naya — who described it as “tea” — that Swift later surprised her with the $4,500 set as a Christmas gift.
“When you asked where I got it, I kept it a secret because I had a plan,” Swift shared in a handwritten note that accompanied the gift. “Picked up a few things I hope you think are tea.”
The pop sensation also has an older, now discontinued, version of the Miu Miu skirt in several hues. She was seen wearing a belted light brown variant to a dinner in Sydney, Australia, in February 2024, where she met up with tour opener Sabrina Carpenter. She styled it with a black corset top from House of CB.
The skirt debuted in late 2023 when Swift was seen several times wearing the skirt in different plaid patterns. On one occasion, she paired the skirt with a shearling coat by Gant and red boots from Reformation; on another, she chose over-the-knee stilettos by Stella McCartney and a jacket from The Row.
It’s clear that once Swift finds a style she loves, she fully commits to it, and this Italian fashion house has certainly secured a spot in her wardrobe for the foreseeable future.
