The actress and director openly embraces her daily makeup routine, making no exceptions even for the most mundane tasks, as revealed in a candid beauty interview with Madame Figaro last October.

For Lemercier, skipping makeup is not an option, whether it’s concealer, foundation, blush, powder, false lashes, or mascara. She fully embraces this everyday ritual: “I’m the type to wear false lashes just to go to the bakery. It might be a form of protection. A friend told me about a time when there was a fire in a hotel, and his mother refused to leave because her eyebrows weren’t done. I totally get it,” she shared. For Lemercier, it’s about always looking her best. She references Gabrielle Chanel who once said, “The best beauty product is a clear conscience. Sure, why not. But she also said that you should always leave the house as if you were going to meet the love of your life. So, I’m ready, even if I’m just picking up a package at 7 in the morning, have a hospital appointment, or am visiting someone in a nursing home…“.
Her dedication to makeup is so strong that it sometimes takes precedence over hygiene: “Sometimes, if I’m really short on time, I’d rather do my makeup than take a shower. Or, I’ll shower after I’ve done my makeup.“
Makeup has been more than just a recent obsession for Lemercier; it’s a deep passion that has been with her since her teenage years. “From the age of 14, I was neck-deep in makeup. I fancied myself as Scarlett O’Hara,” says the 61-year-old actress.
This unyielding affection for makeup illustrates not just a personal preference but an integral part of Lemercier’s identity and lifestyle, distinguishing her in an industry where the natural look is increasingly celebrated.
