Vote Now for the 2025 Gold Derby Music Awards Nominations!

The 5th Annual Gold Derby Music Awards nomination voting is now open! Sign into your Gold Derby account or sign up for a free one to cast your votes for your top picks in artists, albums, songs, and music videos across 27 different categories (see below for desktop voting instructions). Voting will close at the end of the day on Thursday, October 31.

In our primary five categories (Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist), you need to rank your top five favorites. Points are awarded based on their rank: five points for your first choice, four points for your second, three points for your third, two points for your fourth, and one point for your fifth. The ten individuals or groups with the most points in each category will become the nominees.

For the other categories, you’ll select your top three favorites in order of preference. Three points go to your first choice, two points to your second choice, and one point to your third choice. The five with the most points in these categories will be the official nominees. You can vote in as many categories as you wish, and you are free to modify your ballot as many times as you like. Remember, no votes are considered final until voting ends on October 31.

While our awards typically align with the Grammys eligibility period, which is from September 16, 2023 to August 30, 2024 for this year, we have made some exceptions for music achievements that were released earlier but did not become prominent until now (for example, “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims). Also, unlike the Grammys, where you will see Lisa and Sabrina Carpenter in the Best New Artist category, you won’t find them here. Lisa was previously awarded Best New Artist at the GDMAs in 2021 as part of Blackpink, and Carpenter won the same award from us last year. In categories such as pop, rock/alternative, country/Americana, R&B, rap/hip-hop, Latin, dance/EDM, and Best Music Video, the candidates eligible for nominations were initially chosen by our knowledgeable Gold Derby forum posters, although all registered Gold Derby users are now able to vote for the official nominations.

There are restrictions on how many nominations a single artist can receive in each category: an artist can get only one nomination per category. For example, if Charli XCX garners enough votes to be nominated for both “360” and “Von Dutch” in a category, she will only be nominated for the song that received more votes. An exception to this rule is if different combinations of artists are credited together. Thus, if Charli receives enough votes to be nominated for “360” (where she is the sole credited artist) and for a remix of “Guess” (where she is credited alongside featured artist Billie Eilish), she would be nominated for both tracks.
