Tally Spear releases Fade to White EP
Having been lucky enough to see Tally Spear perform live at the back end of last year, I was delighted to hear that she was releasing her debut EP – and now it’s here. ‘Fade to White’ is a fantastic five track E.P, where Tally manages to encompass folk, country and even pop into a wonderful mix. The London based artist has the ability to write upbeat songs about serious issues, which is not easy to pull off, while her vocals are brilliant and engaging throughout. Moments in the EP sound thoroughly modern, but other times you feel like you could easily be listening to a classic album from the 1970’s (especially in the almost Neil Young-esque ‘Don’t Believe It’s All Me’ middle track of the five). The harmonica always gets me, and the artist uses it brilliantly throughout the record.
Fade to White is a fine debut from Tally Spear and the start of what will surely be a hugely successful career.
