Joey Clarkson/Two Ways Home release joint single ‘One More For the Road’

It’s always good to feature a collaboration on Belles and Gals, and the new track from Joey Clarkson/Two Ways Home is a fantastic, high energy new release. The song, which features Canadian-born Clarkson, Anglo/Austrian duo Lewis Fowler & Isabella Marlee, and Clarkson’s British husband, Peter Dixon – a serving member of Her Majesty’s forces – is about long-lost friends being reunited. Inspired by the divide caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the collaborators thought it ironic, yet fitting, that they originally hail from different corners of the earth. The song pays early tribute to the day when lockdown restrictions are entirely lifted.

If you want a feel good track that you can sing along to (it has a banging chorus!) this is it. The song actually has a real gentle start, with Joey opening the vocals, before being joined by Lewis Fowler, but it’s not long before the driving, anthemic feel of the song takes centre stage. If collaborations are this good, please can we have some more in UK country music!

Joey Clarkson :

One More For The Road’ was born out of our frustration at the 2020 lockdown, and – instead of honing in on the negative aspects of life in lockdown – focuses on looking forward to the days we can all go back out and spend time with friends that we might have lost touch with. It’s a feel good song to sing along to at the top of your lungs.

Lewis Fowler (Two Ways Home)

The track is an upbeat, harmony-driven, road trip anthem that pairs well with artists like Lady A, Mumford and Sons, Kieth Urban and Gone West.” commented Lewis Fowler, one half of Two Ways Home.”
