Hannah Brown, known from her days as “The Bachelorette,” finds joy in beachside reading.
“Reading offers a delightful retreat from daily life’s hustle. Plus, I always pack a book when traveling to help keep me centered,” Brown shared with Page Six.
She mentioned preferring reading by the beach over reading in bed due to her strict bedtime routine.
Following her appearances on “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” in 2019, Brown ventured into the literary world with her 2021 memoir, “God Bless This Mess.” She later debuted her first romance novel, “Mistakes We Never Made,” in 2024.
Her latest book, “The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain,” set to release on Tuesday, spins the tale of a woman whose serene island getaway is thrown into chaos by encounters with past fiancés.
Below, Brown lists six books that have made a lasting impression on her life and recent finds she adores.
“In Five Years” by Rebecca Serle
“Rebecca Serle’s writing is both beautifully fluid and profoundly moving. It explores the essence of our purpose and the things that truly matter. Her narratives focus on various relationships—not just romantic ones, which I appreciate as they often touch on friendship and personal reflection. However, romance finds its way in, which is always a treat. As an author myself, I admire how Serle skillfully balances different emotional layers in her storytelling,” Brown expresses.
“People We Meet on Vacation” by Emily Henry
“Emily Henry has a knack for crafting engaging romance with just the right amount of flair. Her playful dialogues are a delight, always leaving me feeling both inspired and a bit lovesick after turning the last page,” says Brown.
“Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen
“A timeless classic, ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by Jane Austen has undoubtedly shaped my appreciation for the romance genre. Austen’s intricate dance of societal norms and youthful defiance continues to resonate through centuries. And for those wondering, I’m partial to the 2005 film adaptation starring Keira Knightley!” Brown comments playfully.
“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” by Ann Brashares
“This series captured my heart during my middle school years and inspired dreams of becoming a writer. Reflecting on it, the strong friendships depicted might have subtly influenced the core relationships in my novels more than I initially thought,” Brown reminisces.
“Daisy Jones & The Six” by Taylor Jenkins Reid
“Taylor Jenkins Reid’s ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ remains one of my all-time favorites. Its distinctive narrative style and the complex interplay of characters and plotlines are nothing short of brilliant,” praises Brown.
“Worthy” by Jamie Kern Lima
“Jamie Kern Lima’s ‘Worthy’ struck a chord with me, especially during times when I’ve felt inadequate. This book doesn’t just affirm your worthiness; it instills a deep-seated belief in your own value. For anyone wrestling with self-doubt or a sense of belonging, Lima’s words are both empowering and transformative,” Brown shares earnestly.
