The actress, best known for her role in “Valley,” and her fiancé Luke Broderick welcomed their much-anticipated rainbow baby on Wednesday. This joyous event comes after the couple experienced a heartbreaking miscarriage in 2023.
“She’s finally here, and it still feels surreal. Luke has seamlessly transitioned into an even more attractive dad, and I’m feeling incredibly blessed,” Doute shared with Us Weekly on Friday.
“Despite being sleep-deprived and not having showered in two days, the moment we saw our daughter and held her in our arms, every challenge vanished. We’re utterly smitten and grateful for her—she’s already transformed our lives,” she added.
Meet Baby Kaia Lily
The couple is proud to introduce their daughter, Kaia Lily. The name, meaning “the sea” in Hawaiian, holds special significance as it echoes their fond memories of Hawaii, where Broderick proposed.
Doute, 42, initially revealed her pregnancy to her fans on Instagram in November 2024, expressing her gratitude but also her initial fears due to her previous loss.
“So thankful,” she captioned a photo showcasing her baby bump, reflecting on the mix of joy and apprehension that accompanied her pregnancy announcement.
The former star of “Vanderpump Rules” elaborated, “Each week and every ultrasound gradually lessened the burden. The first time I saw the baby move, I felt a genuine excitement. I am eternally thankful for this blessing,” she expressed.
Revealing the Gender with Flair
In December 2024, Doute and Broderick shared the gender of their baby using a pink smoke cannon, an event that took them by surprise as they were convinced they were expecting a boy.
“Luke and I couldn’t be happier,” Doute excitedly told People magazine. “The news was totally unexpected.”
The couple, who have been dating since 2022, began their journey to parenthood with intention and hope.
By March 2024, Doute was candid about her desires to start a family, inspired by watching her friends marry and have children. “It made me think, ‘When will it be my turn?’ I’m the oldest girl in our circle,” she revealed during a heartfelt moment on a show.
She also spoke openly about her “terrifying” miscarriage at six weeks during an episode of the couple’s “Balancing Act” podcast, mentioning that she hadn’t pursued in vitro fertilization or egg freezing, but rather trusted in a natural path to pregnancy.
Supportive Partners Through Challenges
During these trying times, Broderick stood by Doute, promising to be her steadfast support to move past the sorrow and towards happier times.
When he proposed in September 2024 during a romantic boat ride, Doute couldn’t help but express her elation on Instagram, saying, “out of all the fish in the sea, you chose me.”
Indeed, the arrival of Kaia Lily marks a new, joyful chapter for the couple, surrounded by love and optimism for the future.
