Geoff Payne Visits Site of Son Liam Payne’s Tragic Passing
Geoff Payne, father of the late Liam Payne, was seen at the hotel where his son tragically passed away last Wednesday. He paused to observe the tributes left by fans and interacted with some of the many people who had gathered there.
According to a report from the BBC, following the death of the former One Direction member, Geoff Payne traveled to Buenos Aires on Friday to manage the return of his son’s remains to the United Kingdom.
The BBC detailed that Geoff first visited the city’s morgue before making his way to the hotel in the early evening. There, he stopped to view the numerous floral arrangements, photos, and candles that were placed around a nearby tree. He took a moment to speak with several fans, expressing his gratitude for their support during this difficult time.
Liam’s former bandmates from One Direction, including Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, have expressed their condolences over the past few days. Simon Cowell, who originally assembled the band in 2010, also paid his respects.
Cheryl Cole, who shares a son named Bear with Liam, made a heartfelt plea to the media on Friday. She emphasized the personal loss beyond Liam’s public persona, stating, “Liam was not just a pop star and celebrity. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend, and a father to our 7-year-old son. A son that now must grapple with the reality that he will never see his father again.”
