A time when the desire for renewal outweighs doubts and hesitations.
The fear of being alone, societal pressures, or mere habit often hold people back from ending romantic relationships. Angelika Koch, a relationship and breakup expert at Taimi, points out that Valentine’s Day, for instance, plays a significant role in this pattern. “Many choose to wait until the symbolic date of February 14th has passed before breaking up. They stay together, sometimes reluctantly, to avoid the discomfort of spending the holiday alone,” she explains in an interview with Vice. However, once this milestone is past, reality sets back in.
Seasons also play a role in influencing romantic relationships. “Winter is associated with comfort and coziness,” the expert emphasizes. “People often stay in relationships just to get through the colder months.” Spring, however, brings a different mindset. “People start craving freedom and excitement, realizing they are ready to let go of relationships that no longer fulfill them,” she continues. The desire for something new grows, and the idea of spending summer alone becomes more appealing. “With longer days and nicer weather, people naturally become more social and optimistic.” In this context, “March brings a spirit of adventure, making it easier to meet new people and explore potential romances,” she adds.
This doesn’t mean that all relationships are doomed during this season. “Just because March has arrived doesn’t mean your relationship is doomed, even if it has been rocky recently. Many couples choose to stay together and resolve their differences, viewing spring as a time to renew their relationship,” Angelika Koch clarifies. However, for those who are uncertain, March seems to be the ideal month to end a romantic relationship that is no longer working.
“It’s the month when nature awakens, and we feel the same need for renewal. The perfect time to start fresh, whether it’s dating someone new or building a new relationship with someone special.” So, if the idea of a fresh start crosses your mind, the time is now (or never).
