This technique was specifically developed to target the area most women need to be stimulated for pleasure, and its effectiveness has even been scientifically proven. What’s more intriguing? It’s similar to a position that’s widely recognized.
While some positions are more famous than others for reaching orgasm, one stands out significantly. A study published in the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy focused on women who were unable to achieve orgasm in the missionary position. After learning this specific technique, they reported a 56% increase in their orgasm frequency.
This isn’t because it allows for particularly deep penetration or requires extraordinary flexibility. Instead, it all comes down to a very precise adjustment in the positioning of the bodies, aimed at increasing clitoral stimulation during intercourse. Just a few centimeters’ difference has now made it known as one of the most effective positions for enhancing female orgasm.
The concept of a position that guarantees women pleasure certainly deserves a disclaimer: there are no 100% guarantees when it comes to orgasms. Factors such as arousal, preferences, anatomy, setting, and rhythm all play their parts. However, there is a technique that ticks many more boxes than those focused solely on penetration. Unlike many positions that rely on varying depths of thrusting, this one aims to keep both pelvises in contact. It’s called the coital alignment technique, or CAT.
Starting from the missionary position, the top partner slightly shifts their body up so that their pelvis aligns more closely with their partner’s. Their chest ends up closer to the shoulders rather than the face of the person below. This shift allows for maintained contact at the vulva and clitoris during penetration. It also offers another advantage: since the movements are generally slower and less deep, it may help some men to prolong intercourse.
That’s why, among all the positions often attributed with almost magical powers, this one has a logical physiological basis and some scientific data to back it up. It doesn’t turn the orgasm into a simple button press, but it directly addresses one of the main issues encountered during penetration: the lack of clitoral stimulation.
