Charissa – I Got My Girls
Sometimes social media is simply fantastic, especially when a follower points us in the direction of great new music. This is exactly how I came across this song by Charissa – ‘I Got My Girls”. Just recently we seem to be featuring a number of artists from Canada and Charissa is another to add to the list, as she hails from Burlington, Ontario.
‘I Got My Girls’ is a song that grabbed me immediately, showcasing the fantastic vocals of Charissa perfectly, while the video complements the song brilliantly – so I contacted the singer and asked her all about it!
“The song “I Got My Girls” is a collaboration with my friend and talented songwriter, Wilson Daniels. He came to me with the idea for the song and asked if I would be interested in recording a demo of it. We started off by recording a stripped down demo version and posted it as a lyric video. Many of our family and friends loved the song and what it represented, so we decided to record a fully produced version with the help of producer Brian Gagnon. I had an amazing experience in the studio, I poured my heart out in the vocals and just went on feeling. We brought Jim Watson of Steeltown Productions onboard to film the video and I asked some of my very close friends to star in it with me – what better actors than true friends? These are “my girls” that have supported me in my music journey so far. We had so much fun while filming and I think that it shone through in the final product. I am so happy with the way the video turned out and grateful for everyone that was involved in making it come together. I truly hope girls and women of all ages will love and connect with the song and its message to bring them even closer together.”
