Introducing Beth Brookfield

Today we’re delighted a new artist to you, Beth Brookfield, a singer songwriter from the Isle of Wight. Beth’s music has been described as ‘a perfect blend of hooky indie-pop paired with dreamy slide guitar’ (who doesn’t love a slide guitar). Beth released her first single, ‘The Journey’, at the age of 17 back in 2020, with singles ‘No Words To Describe’, ‘Chasing After You’ and latest release ‘On the Way To Paris’ following (check out a stripped back acoustic performance below and the released version by hitting the Spotify link at the bottom of the page)

We caught up with Beth to talk all things music!

What was it that ignited the musical spark in you and persuaded you to become a singer songwriter?

I have been singing for as long as I can remember, I grew up with my parents always having music playing in the house and I was always drawn to the ‘dream’ of being a singer and being on stage. I would always sing in talent shows at school etc and when I was about 9 decided to learn ukulele, and then I progressed to guitar and piano. The songwriting came soon after that when I was about 13.

You‘ve been releasing music since you were 17 back in 2020. How would you say your sound has developed?

I would say my sound had developed naturally as I have grown, I am still so happy with my first single and love performing it live. The only way I would say my sound has changed significantly is more commercial pop with influences of country as opposed to it being singer-songwriter country.

You played the isle of Wight festival last summer. That must have been a great experience!?

I did ! It was a great experience, I grew up around that festival and I was lucky to play one of the smaller stages in 2021 but playing the main stage was such an achievement for me.

When I was younger I used to stand on my trampoline with my guitar and pretend that I was on the main stage and I have actually played that stage now so it’s crazy really.

What plans do you have for the rest of 2023? Can we expect any more music or live dates?

I am really using 2023 to song write and to be in the studio, sometimes I find that I get quite caught up in some of the pressures with music so I really want to use this year to enjoy playing and writing. Of course playing live as well, hopefully another busy summer !! I had a few headline gigs at the start of the year so I look forward to hopefully playing more throughout the year.
