Nothing but the finest.

Simone Biles, on a Tuesday, flaunted her latest luxury purchase on Instagram—a light brown Hermès Birkin bag. Her post included the caption, “treated myself to a new lil bby while in new york.”

The 27-year-old Olympic gymnast was in New York City for the VTEX Connect event on Monday and brought her husband, Jonathan Owens, 29, with her for moral support during her shopping excursion.

Describing the experience, she wrote, “baby I was sweaaaating,” indicating the anxiety over the lavish expenditure.

The renowned designer bags, named after the iconic Jane Birkin, are known for their exorbitant cost—similar styles to the one Biles picked up are listed for about $30,000 on the resale site Fashionphile.

Although the purchase was nerve-wracking, this was not Biles’ first Birkin. After her participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she made history as the most decorated gymnast ever, she treated herself to her first bag from the prestigious brand.

In August, Biles took to her Instagram Story to document her visit to an Hermès store in Paris, where she showcased various color options and eventually a private back room, although she did not disclose which style she selected. She did, however, reveal the iconic orange box from Hermès, signifying her successful acquisition.

A few days later, Biles disclosed on Threads that her parents, Ronald and Nellie Biles, had actually paid for her new designer bag. She playfully told her followers, “don’t be mad at me, be mad at your parents,” in response to any detractors.

Earlier in the month, Biles was honored as Sports Illustrated’s 2024 Sportsperson of the Year. During her interview for the cover story, she discussed her future in gymnastics, particularly her thoughts on participating in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

“Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what?,” she expressed. “I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.”
