A Unique Addiction Among Culinary Enthusiasts
While some people collect Pokémon cards and others stamps, there are those who have a fondness for garden gnomes or even manhole covers! Yes, believe it or not, there’s a term for it: hyponomopomatophilie. Everyone, it seems, might be at risk of becoming a serial collector. For those who love baking, beware—there’s a collecting craze sweeping through many enthusiasts. On Instagram, cookbook author Jenny Gryffon recently shared her quirky obsession. And she’s not the only one…

This bizarre French customer habit is driving shop owners crazy
“It started with one, then two, then three… It’s been 10 years!” The baking aficionado has stopped counting her collection. Yes, Jenny has developed a fixation on silicone baking molds. It might not sound serious, but in her video, she revealed having over a hundred, “plus another box full in the garage!” So, the content creator came up with a clever solution. And you’ll see, some of her “mold-obsessed” followers have done the same. “I thought I had too many until I saw this,” joked one. “I showed it to my husband so he would stop saying I have too many,” shared another. But what are all these women talking about?
Well, Jenny has set up a… mold wardrobe at her home! “It’s crazy: I literally have a three-tier mold wardrobe,” she explained on her Instagram @ma.tribu.et.moi. From madeleine molds to éclair, Yule log, and muffin molds, each is lovingly hung on individual hangers, meticulously sorted by size. One of her followers shared, “Same passion here, my kitchen designer gave me a weird look when I asked for a wardrobe-style cabinet for my molds,” Another commented: “My brother-in-law built a special wardrobe for them in my kitchen.” “Same, I made my kitchen designer laugh when I told him I wanted a cabinet to hang my molds”; “I have a well-stocked wardrobe and I’m not stopping anytime soon. Demarle is my addiction,” confessed two others.
Brands like Flexipan and Ohra really know how to tempt baking enthusiasts. Who could resist their molds shaped like hearts, smileys, or teddy bears? For Jenny, her addiction is also partly due to her role as an influencer. She explains that she used to be a consultant for Guy Demarle, the company that markets Ohra molds. Ultimately, this sweet obsession encourages a love for homemade goodies!
