Kelly Clarkson Halts Las Vegas Shows for the Rest of August

Last Wednesday night, Kelly Clarkson, a renowned pop star and TV host, announced the sudden cancellation of her remaining “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions — The Las Vegas Residency” shows scheduled for August.

“I must sadly postpone the remaining Studio Session dates in August in Las Vegas,” Clarkson stated in a post on Instagram.

This marks the second time in just over a month that Clarkson has had to cancel her residency performances unexpectedly.

The latest cancellations are due to health concerns involving her former husband, talent manager Brandon Blackstock, according to the singer.

Personal Reasons Behind the Decision

Clarkson, usually private about her personal life, revealed, “This past year, the father of my children has been facing health issues, and right now, it’s crucial for me to be there for our children,” in her Instagram update.

Clarkson, known for her hit “Breakaway,” holds primary custody of her two children with Blackstock, River, aged 10, and Remington, aged 8.

“I deeply apologize to everyone who purchased tickets, and I am grateful for your understanding, kindness, and support,” the “American Idol” champion expressed.

According to her official website, Clarkson is scheduled to resume her performances in November 2025.

Previous Cancellations and Challenges

In early July, fans were taken aback when Clarkson had to cancel the opening night and another show over the Independence Day weekend due to a strained voice.

“I’m heartbroken to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s debut at Caesars,” she posted on Instagram on July 4. “The preparation and rehearsals have strained my voice. I aim for perfection in my performances, and to avoid any long-term damage, I need to rest this weekend and the following week,” Clarkson explained.

A source close to the Vegas scene confirmed that Clarkson was cautious not to inflict “serious damage” to her voice during the opening weekend.

However, another source disclosed that Clarkson was “dealing with some significant undisclosed struggles that very few know about,” which contributed to “emotional” and “physical” strain behind the scenes.

The unexpected occurrences in her residency came after Clarkson mysteriously missed ten episodes of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in March without any initial explanation. Sources later revealed that she was tending to her children and visiting her sick ex-husband during that period.

Clarkson’s Ongoing Personal Struggles

Since filing for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020, after seven years of marriage, Clarkson’s relationship with her ex has been fraught with challenges.

The divorce led to a prolonged legal dispute involving their $10.4 million Montana ranch, custody of their children, and Blackstock’s demand for spousal support.

In March 2022, the divorce was finalized with Clarkson being granted primary custody of the children, while Blackstock received visitation rights one weekend a month. Clarkson also retained the ranch but was ordered to pay Blackstock $115,000 monthly in spousal support until January 2024.

Clarkson’s Views on Dating

During a residency performance on July 21 at the Colosseum at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace, Clarkson openly discussed her dating experiences.

“Dating can be very challenging, which is why I generally avoid it,” joked the singer of “Miss Independent.”
