Karen Huger, famed for her role on “Real Housewives of Potomac,” has been released from incarceration after a six-month stay for a DUI offense committed in 2024.

An official from the Montgomery County Detention Center confirmed to Page Six on Tuesday that Huger has been freed.
At the age of 62, Huger was convicted of DUI in December 2024 following a severe accident involving her Maserati at high speed earlier that year.
The police body camera footage captured during her arrest was made public, showing Huger visibly intoxicated, struggling with her speech, and even confessing to being “drunk” post-accident. At one point during the interrogation, she bizarrely claimed to be Thomas Jefferson’s “concubine” in a conversation with a police officer.
In a March episode of “RHOP,” Huger discussed the bodycam video, revealing that she had initially avoided watching the footage. “Sitting there in the courtroom, I finally had to watch it because I kept thinking, ‘They must have made a mistake, right? Because none of this makes sense to me,'” she shared with her husband, Ray Huger, aged 79, during the episode.
“When I watched it, I didn’t recognize that woman. I didn’t know her,” she admitted, claiming she had “blacked out” before the crash that resulted in her high-end vehicle being wrecked.
Initially, in February, Huger was sentenced to two years in prison, with one year suspended, and was taken into custody immediately.
Karen’s castmate, Gizelle Bryant, expressed her astonishment at the news of Karen’s sentencing, saying she was “shook” by the turn of events. However, by April, Bryant shared on an episode of “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen that Huger was adapting well to prison life.
“I’ve been talking to someone close to her about her safety, and from what I hear, they absolutely love her where she is. They are loving the Grande Dame! And you know she’s running that place,” Bryant said, feeling reassured about her friend’s safety.
It’s worth noting that Huger has had four driving-related violations since 2006.
