The middle school scholarship is a financial aid given to certain families whose children are enrolled in middle school. Based on the family’s income and size, it helps cover part of the expenses such as supplies, school activities, and educational trips.

Who Can Receive a Middle School Scholarship?

To qualify for a middle school scholarship, the child must be enrolled either in a public middle school, a private contracted middle school (or a non-contracted one authorized by the academy director to accept scholarship students) or in a middle school-level class at the National Centre for Distance Education (Cned). Parents must also meet income requirements. Their annual income must not exceed certain limits, depending on the number of dependent children.

For the 2024-2025 school year, the income considered for the middle school scholarship refers to the annual income earned in 2023. Here are the income caps for receiving the middle school scholarship:

What is the Amount of the Middle School Scholarship?

There are three levels of the middle school scholarship For the 2024-2025 school year, the annual amounts of the middle school scholarship are:

  • 114 euros per child per year (Level 1)
  • 315 euros (Level 2)
  • 495 euros (Level 3)

How to Apply for a Middle School Scholarship?

Starting in the 2024-2025 school year, the process for applying for a middle school scholarship has been streamlined. Now, when enrolling a child in middle school, parents can consent to have their situation reviewed to determine if they are eligible for assistance. “This consent counts as an application for the scholarship,” states the public service website. If parents do not give their consent, they can still apply online, even if they received the scholarship in the previous year. Applications must be renewed via the Educonnect portal.

For students enrolled in private institutions or at Cned, the procedure is slightly different. You will need to download the Cerfa form n° 12539*14 from the public service website, attach the required documents (tax notice and bank identity statement in your name), and submit the complete file to the institution where the child is enrolled.

When to Apply for a Middle School Scholarship?

The application for the middle school scholarship should be made as early as possible. For the 2024-2025 school year, applications must be submitted between September 1 and November 15, 2024.

When is the Middle School Scholarship Disbursed?

The middle school scholarships are disbursed quarterly, at the end of December, March, and June. Therefore, you will receive three payments. Note that the scholarship is directly deposited into the bank account of the child’s legal guardian by the school’s accounting officer.
