Roisin O’Hagan Releases ‘Living in the Dark’
Roisin O’Hagan is an artist we’ve featured a number of times at Belles and Gals, and it has been great to see the progress of the Essex based singer in the time since. The first time we ever featured Roisin was back in February of last year, after she shared a fantastic video of herself singing a track named ‘Living in the Dark’.
15 months later and we are delighted that Roisin has released the song as a single. Roisin also performed the song at each of the two recent Belles and Gals gigs she has appeared (our Showcase at the Water Rats and when she supported Devon Mayson). The song hooks you from the very start, is brilliantly atmospheric and delivered perfectly- check it out for yourself below:
Roisin O’Hagan: “‘Living In The Dark’ is a special song to me for lots of reasons. With most of the songs I write, I don’t entirely know what I’m trying to express while I’m writing them and they develop their meanings over time – ‘Living In The Dark’ is one of those songs. To me, it’s about feeling absolutely lost and unable to face or overcome something. It’s the kind of lost where, when you’re in it, you don’t even realise you’re lost. It takes a moment of strength, something or someone, to shake you and face the things you are feeling. We all have demons; this is a
song that I want people to listen to and see their own.“
About Roisin O’Hagan:
Roisin O’Hagan is a country/pop singer-songwriter and Fender Undiscovered Artist of the Year 2018 finalist. Able to produce lyrical hooks seemingly in her sleep, she writes catchy, heart-felt songs delivered with a voice that aches and captivates. June 2018 saw the release of Roisin’s sparkly single ‘Drive’, which grabbed the attention of BBC Music Introducing in Essex and has received airplay on BBC Radio in Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. More recently, Baylen Leonard chose the single as his Record Of The Week on Chris Country Radio. The single also received the backing of Matt Malley (Counting Crows), who then welcomed Roisin on a visit to his LA recording studio in August. In July 2018, Roisin placed in the final three of the Fender Undiscovered Artist of the Year 2018 contest and was tipped by industry judges Max Helyer (You Me At Six) and Georgie Rogers (BBC 6 Music, Beats 1) for her vocals and songwriting ability. In November, Roisin performed at BBC Introducing Live 2018 in the Yamaha Sessions room ahead of the release of her new single ‘Miss You Like June’, which was debuted in conjunction with a BBC Radio Essex live session on 23rd November 2018. With many shows already lined up for 2019, an Under The Apple Tree (Bob
Harris) session coming up and having just supported Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters) on his UK tour, this year is set to be an exciting one for Roisin’s music.
