In a recent Vogue cover story that came out Tuesday, the model opened up about her “very romantic and happy” relationship with the actor. She emphasized the importance of knowing what one wants and deserves in a partnership.
“Reaching a stage where you understand what you seek and deserve in love is crucial,” shared the 29-year-old co-host of “Next in Fashion.”
She added, “To then connect with someone who is also at a point in their life where they are aware of their wants and needs. Both parties doing their own work to converge and become the best partners possible is essential.”
Hadid praised her partner, who is 50, for his creativity. “I have immense respect for him as a creative force,” she remarked.
She continued, “He offers so much support and belief in me. Getting encouragement from someone you admire can instill a tremendous amount of self-belief. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen if I auditioned for something?”
Inspirations and New Experiences
Hadid credited Cooper with inspiring her to take bold steps in life. She also noted that he has introduced her to more theatrical experiences, which she has joyfully incorporated back into her life.
The couple has been relatively private about their relationship but were first linked romantically following a dinner date in late 2023.
According to Vogue, they initially met at a mutual friend’s child’s backyard birthday party.
Hadid first mentioned Cooper publicly in October 2024 when she explained his absence at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to “Entertainment Tonight.” “He’s watching from home tonight. He’s on dad duty but is incredibly supportive,” she explained, referring to his 7-year-old daughter, Lea, whom he shares with model Irina Shayk.
Family Matters
Shayk, 39, and Cooper were together from 2015 to 2019 and share their daughter, Lea.
Hadid, who has a 4-year-old daughter named Khai with ex Zayn Malik, spoke about managing custody with flexibility due to their demanding careers. “We schedule our custody months in advance, which helps tremendously, though adjustments are sometimes necessary. We support each other and maintain a strong camaraderie,” she explained regarding her relationship with Malik.
The former couple, who separated in 2021 after a relationship of over two years, initially made headlines due to an alleged altercation involving Malik and Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid. Despite past conflicts, they remain focused on co-parenting their daughter with respect for each other and their shared experiences.
In her interview, Gigi also commented on dealing with the press, acknowledging the challenges of correcting misreported stories. “It’s not always possible to rectify every piece of news that’s somewhat accurate but also somewhat misleading,” she noted.
