Louisa Jacobson’s journey toward publicly acknowledging her true self unfolded gradually.

Speaking exclusively to Page Six at the Human Rights Campaign’s Greater New York Dinner, the 33-year-old “Gilded Age” actress shared, “I spent so long concealing a part of me that I always felt was inherently part of who I am.”

Jacobson, the youngest offspring of acclaimed actress Meryl Streep and sculptor Don Gummer, described how she had been in consecutive heterosexual relationships before a period of being single helped her confront and acknowledge her hidden self.

Jacobson chose Pride Month of the previous year to make her public declaration.

She expressed her feelings through an Instagram post captioned, “blessed to be entering the Joyful New Era bb ,” alongside a series of images, one of which included a headline proclaiming, “We’re Entering a Joyful New Era of Lesbian Fashion.” The post also featured photographs of her girlfriend, Anna Blundell.

At the event where she received the HRC visibility award, the Yale School of Drama alum emphasized the significance of openness about one’s sexual orientation. “It’s vital for visibility,” she stated to Page Six. “Seeing others who mirror our own experiences, who embrace their truths boldly and without apology, encourages and affirms others in their own journeys towards self-acceptance.”

Jacobson expressed gratitude for the current accepting environment which allows her to be open about her identity in her professional life—a scenario that might have been challenging in the past.

She continued, “It’s amazing, and I feel incredibly fortunate. We are at a turning point where a wave of women and non-binary individuals are challenging and expanding the definitions of womanhood. It’s a thrilling era to be part of, and I am deeply thankful.”

The HRC dinner also honored other notable figures, including Joe Locke of “Heartstopper” and “Agatha All Along,” who received the impact award.

Notable figures such as TikTok sensation Dylan Mulvaney, Tony award-winner Alex Edelman, and “One Tree Hill” star Sophia Bush, along with her partner, former soccer player Ashlyn Harris, also participated in the event.
