“His legacy will continue to inspire, and his influence on the dance music scene will forever be significant,” his family stated on Oct. 12.
Jackmaster, a renowned Scottish DJ whose real name was Jack Revill, has passed away at the age of 38.
His family released a statement on Instagram mentioning that Revill died early Saturday morning, Oct. 12, in Ibiza due to complications from “an accidental head injury.”
“His family — Kate, Sean, and Johnny — are completely devastated. They are deeply moved by the tremendous outpouring of support from friends, colleagues, and fans. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they deal with their profound sorrow over this tragic loss,” read the statement from the family.
“Jack’s enthusiasm for music and his unwavering effort to explore artistic boundaries through his involvement with the Numbers label and Rubadub Records in Glasgow, as well as his role in discovering numerous groundbreaking artists, established him as a cherished and influential figure in the electronic music community, both on stage and behind the scenes,” the statement added.
“His ability to mix different music genres and present electrifying DJ sets and productions won him the respect and admiration of peers and fans worldwide,” the family emphasized. “His legacy will continue to inspire, and his influence on the world of dance music will forever be significant.”
Revill was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and began his immersion in the music industry at the age of 14 when he started working at the Glasgow record shop Rubadub, as reported by Resident Advisor.
“I never had to buy any records again. That was a clear perk [of the job],” he explained to the publication in 2012.

“It was just little details like having first access to promos that came in. You might have to discuss it with one of the older buyers, but at least you knew you could borrow it for a gig or the weekend, and that was really invaluable for me,” Revill further explained.
He started DJing at the young age of 17, according to Resident Advisor, and quickly became a prominent figure in the Glasgow club scene.
His final performance took place in September at Hï Ibiza in Spain.
